The Movie Database Support

I cannot find the Movie using the german Title neather on the website nor using the API.

The german Title is correctly added to the movie (not by me).

It has something to do with the char "-" in the name. If i remove this one at search "for exampe: a team instead a-team" it will find the movie.

But the website has searchproblems with unicode chars too like "ä, ö, ü and ß" - if those appears somewhere in a name, then a search delivers no results.

Well that does not help. It just might be the case that the english title matches the search string - at least for this case. It seems that there are some problems with encoding and others that handle special char like "-"

Just a list - everything else is detected as spam: X-Men Origins - Wolverine, X-Men 2, X-Men - Erste Entscheidung, Sho pp ing-C e nter King, Yorkshire Killer 1980

(btw. i had to edit the name of one of the movies. otherwise this message would be detected as spam)

There's a number of little issues with search (you can see those here) and they will get looked at. Search is not on my immediate list of things to do though, got a few bigger pressing issues but hopefully sometime next month.

Would it be possible to fix it myself?

Probably not. They require changes to our search stack.

Well apiary.io is new to me but rest APIs, ruby, sql are not. I even did some php stuff a century ago. also used ec2 and s3.

Hey nordicstyle,

TMDb is closed source, but thanks for the offer.

This was fixed with the new search, by the way.
