Dates predating 1900 are invalid

I'm trying to add the date to George Melies's 1896 'A Terrible Night', but it says it is impossible since, apparently, movies before 1900 do not count. It says 'Locale invalid'. However, many pre-1900 short films do have their actual year of release. What gives?

This is just a bug with the date validation. I've created a new ticket for this and will look at it this week.

If you try to add pre-1900 release dates now, they should go through ok.
