Sequels belong together, but collections are not intended to be used to collect a general theme, character or studio.

I would think so, but I don't have enough knowledge in this matter to create such a list. If you do and want to, have at it.

I see there's at least one sequel in this list "Gamera: Guardian of the Universe" and "Gamera 2: Attack of the Legion". Are these the only 2 sequels?

Ditto. I have neglected all the mentioned movies (except the major King Kong releases) because I am not familiar with any of them. More over, IIRC there is crossover between some of these films (ie. Godzilla vs whomever), and that always complicates things.

Those monster movies from japan are not easy to understand. Unlike the us style of (for example) star trek, they're not episode like. Only a few movies are something like "episodes", most of them are respings everytime... perhaps taking a look back to the first movie (like the godzilla storyline... or rodan... or mothra).

This is another point, why those 'collections' are not the best solution. If you're collecting for example all of the godzilla movies, then you get movies where Mothra, Rodan, Mechagodzilla and even Gamera (!) are inside those movies - but those movies could be put to the other collections too. You can see, why i am not very happy with those "monster collections"? :D But the creator of those collections have done a load of work too, so that i am not willing to just "destroy" their work without talking about in this forum and share the thoughts of other people.

I would recommend to split up at least all those "monster" collections and of course the bud spencer & terence hill ones... (a huge collection is a bad thing too, because they're under normal circumstances standalone movies, but off only a few movies which are episodes like the plattfuss stories).
