I also get this bug. I usually set the release date of the UK release (since I live there) so I'm not sure if it's a bug for entering it in other countries aswell. To rectify this, you have to select the day AFTER the actual release date, which causes it to jump back to the actual release date. Obviously, it would be better if you didn't have to do this, and I'm sure some people haven't noticed and therefore some films have the wrong release date.
Edit: I can't set the release date correctly (25 October 1998, UK) on 20546, Goodnight Mister Tom, due to this bug.
