I just figured out how to add a new company. Just enter ALL production companies that appear in the completion-list when entering the name of a new company as dummy entries. Then you can add the new (correct) company last (press enter after typing the name). Now it will not be replaced by a known one, since all replacements are already in the list. Then delete the dummy entries from the wrong completions.
The last post from Aikhjarto was very valuable as it was an important step in the right direction.
The actual Solution is even easier.
1) Fully type the Name of the new Production Company or copy paste the name from another source (i.e IMDB listing - albeit if you do this you will not know if it is already available in the Database. At least if you paste delete the last character as this will pop up any existing entry. If there is one choose it, if not retype the deleted character)
2) Hit the CR (Enter) Button. DO NOT SAFE BEFORE YOU DO THIS.
3) Repeat the procedure describe in Steps 1 & 2 if needed for any further entry you wish to make (although I found that the 3. New Company did not want to display..yet it was entered in the DB and available for selection on a re-edit and displayed than fine as 3. company)
4) Save YOUR EDIT as you would do in any case.
This is still a different procedure as the one usually implied by TMDB for new entries. However it's not quiet as tedious as described by Aikhjarto. Once you know how it's as fast and as simple as the usual implied method.

Same problem here. Can't enter the company "Crazy Film" for the Movie "Männer Lügen nicht" http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/155854-m-nner-l-gen-nicht

At least it worked for the comapny "Crazy Film" in http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/155854-m-nner-l-gen-nicht and "Studio Film" in http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/155879-ich-z-hle-t-glich-meine-sorgen
This is a nasty workaround, but at least it works :-)
