Over the weekend, actor Thomas Jefferson Byrd was found unresponsive in Atlanta, a victim of a shooting. Shortly thereafter, he was prounounced dead on the scene. Byrd, who was 70, had acted in numerous Spike Lee "joints," including Da Sweet Blood of Jesus, He Got Game, Girl 6, Red Hook Summer, Chi-Raq, and Get On the Bus. Personally, my favorite two roles of his were in Bamboozled, wherein he played Honeycutt, an uproarious character on a minstrel TV show and Clockers, wherein he played the very frightening Errol Barnes. Byrd also acted in Ray, Set It Off, and Bulworth, among others.
Rest in power, brother Byrd.

Here's a gofundme link in support of Byrd's children.
