Robert "Bob" Osborne (1932-2017), the revered longtime primary host of TCM's evening broadcasts, died, aged 84 years, in March 2017, but remains missed and appreciated. There have been good TCM hosts since him, but no one who's truly succeeded at taking his place (other than, of course, functionally).
I commented, on a different thread, on 7 March 2017:
Robert Osborne was like everyone's grandfather; you'd see him hosting on TCM, and everything felt safe and alright. So many fond memories of watching primetime broadcasts and Silent Sunday Night movies intro'd and outro'd by our old "friend" Bob. He will definitely be missed. Fortunately, he'll live on, besides in our memories, also via his intros on a number of TCM Presents DVDs/Blu-rays, and through his written histories, articles, etc.
It's wonderful that Mr. Osborne will appear in perpetuity on the mentioned DVDs that were released during his lifetime. I have a handful or so such DVDs, never remember, beforehand, which ones he's on, so always consider it a treat when I pop in a disc and there he is, to pay a welcome brief visit, for 2-3 minutes.
As Bob's gone, but definitely not forgotten, I wanted to create this new thread about him, 2-1/2 years since his passing.
RIP, and thank you for everything, Bob.

Here's a wonderful 90-seconds TCM tribute to Bob, from right after he died. Will get you right in the heart, watching that now.
