I had just finished watching the last season of "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1993-1998)" and I was looking up where the different actors are now, and then I read about the terrible accident last Friday night when he was struck by two vehicles while crossing the street in Venice, Los Angeles.
Yikes: I hadn't seen/read/heard that he got killed in an accident. That's tragic. So, that was just yesterday (which concludes in California in a minute from now).
I remember that he was married to Alley Mills, who played main character Kevin Arnold's mother, Norma, on the wonderful comedy series The Wonder Years.
I for some reason don't at all remember his game show appearances (despite that I watched various of those shows back then), though sounds like he was a popular staple on such shows for many years.
Here'sThe Hollywood Reporter article about Mr. Bean's death.
The Hollywood Reporter inaccurately states that his birth last name was Burroughs, though it definitely was Burrows (like both Wikipedia and IMDb indicate); I verified that detail (the accuracy of the Burrows spelling) via his birth record, also the 1930 and 1940 Censuses, ditto his WWII Army enlistment record.

It's really horrible. His wife was with him when he was pronounced death at the scene.

Terrible. As the accident occurred at about 7:30p.m., I bet they were just coming out of a restaurant following dinner.

Very tragic! Very shocking to hear.
Orson's great in his acting roles, really nailing the parts, and he's also a brilliant wit on those many game shows.
Thanks for reporting this very terrible news.
My sympathies.
