This is a rumour reported by several sites:
http://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/rumor-henry-cavill-looking-extend-dceu-contract-man-steel-2-way/
All I could say is that HC must be really lacking in OTHER projects that he would actually like to stay in the chaotic world of WB/DC. Quite interesting to read that a rumoured appearance in Shazam would be his last appearance as Superman as it will fulfil his current contract. Really? Not a new MOS sequel, which would require a new contract?
But then these are just rumours.... Personally, I think he should sign up for a Netflix, HBO, etc. TV series instead.

Even if this rumour is somehow true, I would think the director of any future movies in the DCEU would have more of a say if HC will continue on with the cape or not. Reboots are a dime in a dozen these days, and if WB is serious about starting a new slate given how bad Snyder’s take on the DCEU has been received, would they go for HC?
One only has to look at history — Once Singer left DC, so was Brandon Routh (poor guy). Kevin Feige asked for Andrew Garfield to be replaced once Spidey was absorbed back into Marvel universe, so this could also happen in the DCEU if new creative teams are hired.

I think the only way HC would have a shot is if he lowered his pay, because they can easily get a no-name to sign up for $500K. That is barring the following:
If they were smart, they would hire the Black Panther director and writers.

Would Marvel let them go? I’m sure Marvel wants them for the future Black Panther sequels. That movie made so much money (and I must admit I liked it more than Wonder Woman), sequels are inevitable.

I'm sure they wouldn't, but I must give it to Marvel, they have the golden touch. They took a gamble with this untested director and came out winners. I guess they want young, hungry, visionaries opposed warn out hacks like Zach.
Yes, it's already been determined, as if there was any doubt, that there will be a sequel to Black Panther. Plus, it looks way better than WW.

Marvel is not the only one taking a gamble with ‘untested directors’. Fox took a gamble with T Miller who worked well with Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool which became a success. With Marvel, though, you have the very powerful Kevin Feige (and other powers that be behind the scene) who is steering the universe building and giving a lot of specific orders. In some ways, it’s almost like he’s operating a very large scale TV show which each movie a crucial episode in an arc, with set rules. There is room for creativity but the rules should still be followed. In some ways, they may prefer young ‘untested’ directors because they may be more pliable and would not argue too much because they want the gig. (Although there had been cases where Marvel had to ‘let go’ of some directors or the director left due to creative differences.) The other thing too, the new ones are also ‘cheaper’.

All good points.
Per Deadline's sources, a first-time director of a comic book movie earns $1.5 million to $3 million, while those with more experience in the genre, like Zack Snyder, who is directing the upcoming Justice League, could receive $10 million, plus a significant cut of the box office earnings.

Okay, all of this Witcher talk and promo and not one word from HC's manager, Dany. What's happening?

I think we'll soon hear about a switch in management.

I think you're right, because I've seen HC w/LE's manager.

Holy cow! For real? He’s switching managers? I thought her silence was more because she’s too busy promoting the new Jumanji movie.

It appears Dany is a little slow to post, because she posted about the Witcher today.
