Discuss Henry Cavill

I thought there was a thread for this. Anyway, Diane Lane gave a short but brutal answer about JL.

Unfortunately, the only time there is ‘variety’ is when he has a new GF or something about him gets reported on the boards (like IMDB). I think that’s why people just go to the boards or the fansites. There are more ‘news’ in those places than in the ‘official’ articles about him.

The power of the internet but some of them lame brains come up w/some stuff that could easily be disputed. I know we all wonder is he or is he not gay, and we stick w/it. Those types of issues can't be really proven at the time. However, there are some basic claims that are accepted as fact, when they are not.

I guess that’s why the GQ article had to give new stuff — the writer was paid a lot of money including the trip to the UK. (Then he lost his phone — so that cost a lot.) shrug_tone1

Now, that journalist knew HC regurgitates the same stuff...

That journo did their research... Although as one entertainment journalist said — a lot of them in them in the profession are just happy with the freebies they get from the studio so they don’t really bother much, or in the case of HC, he just sticks with a given script...

Yeah but this guy was an award-winning journalist for the NY Times, who freelances.

He made it in People's Sexist Man issue.

If only he dressed like that. Nice photo although it is too photoshopped, because they played too much w/his face. It's good they added hair, but there is nothing wrong w/HC's face. Otherwise, nice pic.

This barely looks like HC. Where is this from?

The curly hair remained me of the early days when he was being interviewed to be the new MOS or even his earlier pics. He looked good in the picture, but it does look photo-shoppe. The hairline is not receding as much as in other latest pics. I’m assuming GQ Germany didn’t feature an interview as insteresting as Australian GQ.

I thought the same thing. Mo hair, heavy on the photoshop, and nice threads. Me thinks GQ is trying to say we're sorry.

Of course not.

It's pretty much a couple of paragraphs. It's not even a page. Less chance of being called out for editorial liberties.

This Grace dis video seems like it was created by HC. The computer-generated voice sounds like him.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=82&v=eDG_sdumHsY

Actually it does sound very much like him. Did somebody pick up on it in the comments? I wonder, did someone from his management’s camp possibly arranged all of that?

In reality, people shouldn’t really be worrying about what she’s saying, because I’m not sure if she’s a big influencer in Hollywood. (Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t really follow her. The only times I’ve seen Grace’s stuff are the links you posted here.)

I woul be MORE interested with what those who have or had real influence in Hollywood think of him. For example, while Amy Pascale is no longer CEO of Sony, she did refer to him as the ‘lame Superman guy’, while she managed to name the other superhero characters — WHY IS THAT?

WB is making more DC movies, even a movie about a Batman villain, but no announcement of an MOS sequel. You even have an article printed in Deadline talking about this openly. WHY IS THAT? Are they planning to do the same thing they did with Brandon Routh?

Instead of hating on Grace for ‘hating on’ HC, HC fans should wonder more why the Powers That Be in Hollywood are not giving him more films, or why he is not as busy as his peers starring in other non-hero related movies. Thank God for The Witcher, otherwise, we’ll be having another of his year long or more hiatus of not appearing in anything.

If that's HC, which it sounds a lot like him! He should spend his energy on hatching his exit from Dany and finding a better manager.

People only hate Grace's message. Most don't have real insight on how the business works, and they find it easier to harp on Grace than Amy.

Planning? They already did. People don't want to accept reality.

If I am to believe Grace, HC has a bad rep.

I do think he NOW does have a bad rep, when he and Dany made those demands. He's lucky he secured that Witcher deal before he stepped on toes at WB.

Here's the complete interview that posted earlier.

Eek! You have to register. Here is the interview.

Bond ambition: Henry Cavill on 007, action man style and advice from Hollywood legends 22 DECEMBER 2018 • 8:00AM

When actor Amy Adams was asked about her Man of Steel co-star Henry Cavill’s chiselled looks, she gushed that they were “a little distracting”. Clapping eyes on him for the first time you understand exactly what she meant. The guy is tremendously well put together.

We’re in Venice in late summer, on the private island of San Clemente, where he’s trying on Jaeger-LeCoultre watches for size, becoming the living, breathing embodiment of the Swiss watchmaker’s brawny Polaris Man pitch – it is the sportiest model in the Swiss house’s firmament – in his guise as “friend of the brand”.

Cavill is pragmatic about the red carpet demands on Hollywood men. “Modern-day actors are brands as much as they are performers,” he says. “It matters how one comes across, one’s style. For example, if someone were to play James Bond – if someone is often impeccably dressed, then you’re going to look at him – or her – playing James Bond and think, 'Yes, of course'.”

Later that evening, the actor dons an Armani tuxedo and gold Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris for his turn on the Venice Film Festival red carpet. Cavill got down to the final two the last time everyone’s favourite super-spy was cast, outgunned in the end by Daniel Craig. He was only 22 at the time.

Was it age that swung it? “I was too young for the role then, yes,” he admits. Now 35, would he be up for it next time around? “Absolutely, without a doubt.” The actor is still in the top 10 to snag the role, some way behind favourite Idris Elba, but a few spots ahead of Emily Blunt. “I think there’s always an opportunity for that,” he says of a female Bond. “We’re in a world where anything’s possible.”

Cavill would know. From being plucked out of Stowe School as a teenager to make his big-screen debut in The Count of Monte Cristo, to starring alongside Tom Cruise in the sixth instalment of the Mission: Impossible franchise this summer, his feet have barely touched the ground.

What was Cruise like? “Lovely man,” he says. “He does say, 'Ask me any question,' and then he’ll talk your ear off about it, and be excited about how your career may blossom. And that was wonderful.”

It won’t be long before Cavill will drag his eight-pack back to the screen – the small screen, this time. Next year, he’ll appear as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s adaptation of Polish fantasy writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher.

As often before, the role will require him to pump his body up to CGI levels of muscularity. “I enjoy the physical challenge,” he says. “I’m lucky enough to have the genetics that result in quick changes – I can get really quite big if I set my mind to it.”

Whether he expands to Bond status, only time will tell.
