Just a bit of thinking:
Today marks the 7th anniversary from the debut of MOS. With the latest talks of a mere cameo for Supes, this makes me think this renewed interest is all the doing of Dany and not anything coming from WB.
What I'm thinking is that it was Dany rang up the trades.
I guess she wanted to drum up some interest in her client after the announcement of the Synder cut, and in hindsight, there was buzz but no action.
In the latest headlines, there was never a movie that was listed in which HC would star or even cameo in, so. . .
That is making me give the latest headlines the side-eye.

She is HC's manager, and supposedly, she was in the room when he was trying to re-negotiate his contract with WB. She is supposed to give him good advice, but re-negotiating a contract after a poor reception to JL was not a good move. Then, HC not doing the cameo for WB was not doing him any favors.
After I thought about this whole thing, HC's 4 picture deal as Supes meant any appearance -- including cameos -- would be considered as satisfying the 4-picture deal in his contract.
HC most likely didn't want a cameo to be considered a fulfillment of his 4 picture deal and wanted a feature film aka MOS2.
IMO, Dany should have re-negotiate before BvS and JL and before DC took a nosedive. Yet, she waited and had her client march in demanding more money and a sequel, when his track record was dicey.

He talks to Patrick Stewart. I really like HC but... it’s like a race between a Ferrari and a Toyota, and he is not the Ferrari.
Maybe they talk about dogs 😂 Or the weather in England...

He’s staying near Reading in the countryside (the most clever thing to do during a pandemic IMO)... The WiFi at the rental it’s not that good (I can feel the countryside life there 😂)... He wants to produce and direct, he’s never done it (so Promethean hasn’t work anything yet)... He praised Lucy Cork... He said he’s not a cool guy...
