Boudjemaâ Karèche, born in 1941, is a law graduate from the Faculty of Algiers. Host of the Algerian Cinematheque since 1971, he was appointed director there from 1978 to 2003, succeeding its founder, Ahmed Hocine.

This mecca of culture, debate and freedom, known to film buffs around the world, embraces the history of Algeria. Two private cinemas adjoin the cinema library. In 1995, in the midst of the civil war, bombs devastated them, causing eight deaths and many injured. The Algiers Cinematheque has never suspended a screening. In addition to his activity as a curator and his numerous participations on international festival juries, Boudjemaâ Karèche has made several appearances as an actor in films by Merzak Allouache ("The Adventures of a Hero", "The Man Who Watched the windows") and Mohamed Bouamari ("First Step").

In 2005, he published the book "Un Jour, Un Film" (Editions Jazz, Algiers), a collection of old articles written for the Algerian daily newspapers Le Matin and Liberté. In 2009, Boudjema Karèche published "Juste Un Mot", then in 2013 "L'Héritage Du Charbonnier", a story about the life and work of the Algerian filmmaker Mohamed Bouamari who died in 2006.

In 2021, the “Cinéma Mémoire” collective is putting a series of master classes hosted by Boudjemaâ Karèche “Boudjemaâ Karèche: L’Instinct Du Cinéma” online on the Viméo platform.

بوجمعة قريش، من مواليد 1941، خريج كلية الحقوق بالجزائر العاصمة. مضيف السينما الجزائرية منذ 1971، وعين مديرا لها من 1978 إلى 2003 خلفا لمؤسسها أحمد حسين. هذا المكان الذي يعج بالثقافة والنقاش والحرية، والمعروف لدى هواة السينما حول العالم، يحتضن تاريخ الجزائر. دور سينما خاصة مجاورة لمكتبة السينما. وفي عام 1995، في خضم الحرب الأهلية، دمرتها القنابل، مما أدى إلى مقتل ثمانية أشخاص وإصابة العديد. ولم توقف سينماتك الجزائر عرض الفيلم أبدا. بالإضافة إلى نشاطه كأمين ومشاركاته العديدة في لجان تحكيم المهرجانات الدولية، ظهر بوجمعة كريش عدة مرات كممثل في أفلام لمرزاق علواش ("مغامرات البطل"، "الرجل الذي شاهد النوافذ") و محمد البوعمري ("الخطوة الأولى").

وفي عام 2005، نشر كتاب "Un Jour, Un Film" (طبعات جاز، الجزائر)، وهو عبارة عن مجموعة من المقالات القديمة المكتوبة لصحيفتي "لوماتان" و"ليبرتيه" الجزائريتين اليوميتين. في عام 2009، نشر بوجمعة كريش "Just Un Mot"، ثم في عام 2013 "L'Héritage Du Charbonnier"، وهي قصة عن حياة وعمل المخرج الجزائري محمد بوعماري الذي توفي عام 2006.

في عام 2021، ستطرح مجموعة "Cinéma Mémoire" سلسلة من الدروس الرئيسية التي يستضيفها بوجمعة كاريش "بوجمعة كاريش: L’Instinct Du Cinéma" عبر الإنترنت على منصة Viméo.

Boudjemaâ Karèche, né en 1941, est un licencié en Droit de la Faculté d'Alger.

Animateur de la Cinémathèque Algérienne dès 1971, il y est nommé directeur de 1978 à 2003, succédant à son fondateur, Ahmed Hocine. Ce haut lieu de culture, de débats, de liberté, connu des cinéphiles du monde entier, épouse l’histoire de l’Algérie. Deux salles de cinéma privées jouxtent la cinémathèque. En 1995, en pleine guerre civile, des bombes les ont ravagées, provoquant huit morts et de nombreux blessés. Jamais la Cinémathèque d’Alger n’a suspendu une séance. Outre son activité de conservateur et ses nombreuses participations à des jurys de festivals internationaux, Boudjemaâ Karèche a fait quelques apparitions en tant qu'acteur dans des films de Merzak Allouache ("Les Aventures d'un Héros", "L'Homme qui regardait les fenêtres") et de Mohamed Bouamari ("Premier Pas").

En 2005, il publie le livre "Un Jour, Un Film" (Editions Jazz, Alger), recueil d'anciens articles rédigés pour les quotidiens algérois Le Matin et Liberté. En 2009, Boudjema Karèche publie "Juste Un Mot", puis en 2013 "L'Héritage Du Charbonnier", récit sur la vie et l'oeuvre du cinéaste algérien Mohamed Bouamari disparu en 2006.

En 2021, le collectif «Cinéma Mémoire» mets en ligne sur la plateforme Viméo une série de master-class animés par Boudjemaâ Karèche «Boudjemaâ Karèche : L’Instinct Du Cinéma» .
