Steven William Forrest (7 February 1960 – 7 December 2021) was a Scottish singer-songwriter, best known for his time as a member of synth pop band Bronski Beat, with Jimmy Somerville and Larry Steinbachek. He was a co-founder and keyboard player of the group Bronski Beat, known for the singles "Smalltown Boy" and "Why?". He was also an LGBTQ activist and was openly gay from an early age. Raised in Castlemilk, Glasgow, Bronski worked in his youth as a labourer. He lived in a flat in Brixton, London, during the early formative period of Bronski Beat with his fellow musicians. Later on he squatted with partner and bandmate Larry Steinbachek in Camberwell, London. Following the break up of the band he lived in Thailand for many years, as well as Paris, France, before returning to the United Kingdom. In 2016, Larry Steinbachek died after a short battle with cancer. Bronski had a stroke in 2018 which limited his mobility. Steve Bronski, né le 7 février 1960 à Glasgow et mort le 7 décembre 2021 à Soho, était un musicien britannique. Il est le fondateur du groupe Bronski Beat, connu notamment pour le tube Smalltown Boy sorti en 1984. Il était cofondateur et claviériste du groupe Bronski Beat, connu pour les singles "Smalltown Boy" et "Why?". Il était également un militant LGBTQ et était ouvertement gay dès son plus jeune âge. Élevé à Castlemilk, Glasgow, Bronski a travaillé dans sa jeunesse comme ouvrier. Il a vécu dans un appartement à Brixton, Londres au début de la période de formation de Bronski Beat avec ses collègues musiciens. Plus tard, il s'accomplit avec son partenaire et coéquipier Larry Steinbachek à Camberwell, Londres. Après la rupture du groupe, il a vécu en Thaïlande pendant de nombreuses années, ainsi qu'à Paris, en France, avant de retourner au Royaume-Uni. Bronski a eu un accident vasculaire cérébral en 2018 qui a limité sa mobilité.
