Biography

Siwakorn Bunsrang (B.2000, Phuket, Thailand) is a filmmaker graduated from the Faculty of Digital Media and Film Arts at Bangkok University. He is interested in psychoanalytic theories related to human nature and mental health issues in children and the elderly, as well as the history of Thai people of Chinese descent connected to the memories of his hometown. He expresses these themes through filmmaking, which he views as a tool to record memories and as an art form for therapeutic healing.

He began making films in high school and has received numerous awards. During university, his short film "The Angel from Below (2021)" received funding from the CCCL Film Grants 2021 and was selected to screen alongside the documentary "When the Wind Blows (2022)" at the Wildtype Film Festival 2022. Additionally, his experimental documentary "The King’s House (2022)" was screened in the experimental film program of Wildtype. His experimental documentary "Disappeared (2022)" had its world premiere at the Doc Club Film Festival 2024 alongside "When the Wind Blows (2022)" and was nominated for Best Documentary Short Film at The 31st Bangkok Critics Assembly. In 2024, he was selected as one of the 15 participants to join the “Why (Not) Cinema?” workshop with Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Sompot Chidgasornpongse at The 7th Bangkok Experimental Film Festival (BEFF), organized by Kick the Machine Films. Currently, Siwakorn is a freelance filmmaker, specializing in editing films and advertisements for well-known private companies. He has also edited music videos for several famous artists. With a strong desire to expand his career, he aims to eventually return to making his own films again.
