Sara Nacer is an Algerian filmmaker based in Montreal where she also works as a digital product manager at Bell Media. After a postgraduate diploma at EM Strasbourg Business School, and a stint at La FEMIS, Laila Aoudj joined the Bejaia international festival of Rencontres Cinematographics where she became artistic director and programmer for five years. She also co-founded Dima Cinéma, a structure which aims to establish an alternative film distribution network in Algeria.

His first documentary film “Let them all go”, shot in Algeria at the heart of the smile revolution, highlights the socio-cultural awakening of the young generation. Released in December 2019, the film broke records at the Cinémathèque québécoise with several sold-out screenings and great media coverage. She won the LOJIQ prize for a promising filmmaker at the Vues d’Afrique International Cinema Festival and the Best Documentary Film prize at the Images et vie Festival in Dakar.

Her feature film “The Desert Rocker” was selected at the Tribeca Film Institute in 2017 and in artistic residency at the Jacob Burns Film Center in New York. She is also in production of a feature-length documentary selected for the Close-Up Initiative in 2020, an international development program for emerging filmmakers. Recognized in Montreal for her contribution to the promotion of cultural diversity, Sara has organized several events and produced several sold-out concerts, notably at Place des arts in Montreal.

سارة ناصر هي مخرجة أفلام جزائرية مقيمة في مونتريال حيث تعمل أيضًا كمديرة للمنتجات الرقمية في شركة Bell Media. بعد حصولها على دبلوم الدراسات العليا في كلية إدارة الأعمال ستراسبورغ، وفترة قضاها في La FEMIS، انضمت ليلى عودج إلى مهرجان بجاية الدولي لرينكونتريس سينماتوغرافيكس حيث أصبحت مديرة فنية ومبرمجة لمدة خمس سنوات. كما شاركت في تأسيس ديما سينما، وهي منظمة تهدف إلى إنشاء شبكة بديلة لتوزيع الأفلام في الجزائر.

فيلمه الوثائقي الأول "دعوهم يذهبوا جميعا"، الذي تم تصويره في الجزائر في قلب ثورة الابتسامة، يسلط الضوء على الصحوة الاجتماعية والثقافية لجيل الشباب. صدر الفيلم في ديسمبر 2019، وحطم الأرقام القياسية في Cinémathèque québécoise مع العديد من العروض التي بيعت بالكامل وتغطية إعلامية رائعة. فازت بجائزة LOJIQ للمخرجة الواعدة في مهرجان Vues d’Afrique الدولي للسينما وجائزة أفضل فيلم وثائقي في مهرجان Images et vie في داكار.

Sara Nacer est une cinéaste algérienne basée à Montréal où elle travaille également en tant que chef de produit numérique chez Bell Média. Après un diplôme de troisième cycle à l’EM Strasbourg Business School, et un passage à La FEMIS, Laila Aoudj intègre le festival international des Rencontres Cinématographiques de Bejaia où elle devient directrice artistique et programmatrice durant cinq ans. Elle a également co-fondé Dima Cinéma, une structure qui a pour objectif la mise en place d’un réseau alternatif de diffusion de films en Algérie.

Son premier film documentaire « Qu’ils partent tous tourné en Algérie au cœur de la révolution du sourire met en lumière l’éveil socioculturel de la jeune génération. Sorti en décembre 2019, le film a battu les records à la Cinémathèque québécoise avec plusieurs projections à guichets fermés et une belle couverture médiatique. Elle a remporté le prix LOJIQ pour un cinéaste prometteur au Festival international de cinéma Vues d’Afrique et le prix du Meilleur film documentaire au Festival Images et vie de Dakar.

Son long métrage « La Rockeuse du désert » a été sélectionné au Tribeca Film Institute en 2017 et en résidence artistique au Jacob Burns Film Center à New York. Elle est également en production d’un long métrage documentaire sélectionné au Close-Up Initiative en 2020, un programme de développement international pour les cinéastes émergents. Reconnue à Montréal pour sa contribution à la promotion de la diversité culturelle, Sara a réalisé plusieurs événements et produit plusieurs concerts à guichets fermés, notamment à la Place des arts de Montréal.
