Discuss Joan Crawford

Item: Джоан Кроуфорд

Language: en

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Joan Crawford's name has been changed, twice, to I guess it's Cyrillic spelling, which then appears (as it does presently) on her English-language overview page. As a result, "Joan Crawford" doesn't come up as a result for anyone (such as myself) doing a name search for her. I changed her name to again appear presented as "Joan Crawford" a short time ago, but see it's now been changed back to Cyrillics. Since all the rest of the Overview is in English, so also should be how her name is presented.

PS: I've just now noticed that the same new (apparently joined our site within the last 24 hours) TMDb member has likewise changed a number of other American actor/actress names to Cyrillic spelling! The person who's made those changes clearly doesn't realize, and needs to be informed, that what they're doing is seriously messing up a whole lot of different actor/actress pages across TMDb.

AHA

I notice what's wrong, the name of a person is not localised, like the translated movie/tv show titles. It's the same for every translation.

Maybe this is intended, but maybe not. I'll nudge Travis! And ask him to undo the user's history, because he's been very, very active open_mouth

Thanks so much, Marr! Yes: I clicked on that new member's username, then viewed their editing history, and they've done A LOT of this sort of name changing to Cyrillic alphabet during the last 24 hours, and the quicker it's put the brakes on, the better!

Yeah, indeed. I banned him for now and sent him a mail about how to handle it all (add the non-roman alphabet names to alternatives instead), and how to get his account back after he read my mail.

All changes now reverted. partly_sunny
