on her birthday, Joan Crawford, one of the great female stars of the Golden Era of Hollywood Cinema. She won the _ Academy Award for Best Actress_ for her role as Mildred Pierce Beragon in the movie "Mildred Pierce (1945)". In 1962 she starred alongside Bette Davis in the thriller " What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?"

She'd now be 112, and, as much as she always cared about her fans and what people thought of her, would be very glad and grateful to still be remembered, appreciated, and respected all these years after the conclusion of her long and great movie career.
I have the DVDs of a small selection of her movies and have lately been especially wanting to watch Humoresque (1946) again. Joan's amazing in it. Actually everyone in the cast is. And the featured solo violin music is out of the ballpark truly exceptional.
