Discuss Lise Roy

Item: Lise Roy

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Can someone please take a look at the pictures on this website and the pictures in this PDF and give their opinion on whether this is the same actress or not? I really can't tell whether the prolific French Canadian actress and the "Lise Roy" who acted in a bunch of French content in the 1970s and 1980s are the same person. thinking

I'd say they are different persons. A few images of the the person in the PDF are from 2005 and 2007 (where she would have been 81 and 83) and I think that person is much younger than that.

I agree with @lineker -> they are different actresses. I assume the mysterious one is from France, while the other 2 are/were from Canada.

One of the "open" credits is for the movie Le piège à cons from 1979. For this film, there is a short French trailer on Canal+:

I think the woman in the blue blouse on the desk starting at 1:20 min is Lise Roy -> she looks very similar to the screen caps from the website. This can't be Lise Roy, who died in January 1977, and this also can't be Lise Roy, who was born in 1953, meaning she was 26 years old in 1979. That's why I think this has to be a different person.

Regarding the other 2 credits -> that's more complicated. According to her current official cv, the Canadian actress who was born in 1953 was in the movie The Boys of St. Vincent: 15 Years Later in 1992. For this movie, there is a comtemporary press kit online:

When you scroll down to pages 22/23, there is a short contemporary bio for Lise Roy. This bio mentions a few recent film credits that are missing from her current official cv -> meaning that she did appear in films/tv prior to 1992. Both Onzième spéciale and Le grand jour are from 1988, and ...Comme un voleur is from 1990. Even more interestingly, it is stated that she toured France with a theatre company in 1984/1985, which could've gave her the opportunity to act in French films that were shot in those years. It's speculative - I can't find any proof for these 2 current credits.

On the other hand -> I also can't find anything about mysterious Lise Roy from France except for her screen stills -> no info anywhere. I thought maybe she also acted under a different name and Lise Roy is a slighty different one for some roles? It's possible - but also speculation. I would go for the screen caps -> if she looks similar to the woman from the trailer on Canal+, it's mysterious Lise Roy. snake

Yes, this was also mentioned in the PDF I linked above. The main Canadian actress lived in France for a short while. Some of the French credits could in theory be hers.

Same! And most databases I've checked mix the credits of these three (I'm assuming) actresses. I thankfully found a lot of info/picture of the older Lise Roy in old French Canadian newspapers. But nothing on the alleged French actress. man_shrugging

Also, just in case, there's also a French Canadian country singer of the same name. She currently doesn't have profile in the database, but her daughter does.

Thanks guys!
