Biography

Steven Gillon is a composer of Portuguese-American descent, born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal. Discovered the piano at the age of seventeen and started to work on his own compositions in the same year.

In 2016, Steven embarked on a journey to deepen his musical knowledge as a self-taught musician. During this period, he explored composition and was greatly inspired by influential composers like Federico Mompou, Alexander Scriabin, Arvo Pärt, and Jóhann Jóhannsson whose works have continued to shape his musical style ever since.

In 2019 he released his first solo album called "Pequenas Inquietudes", which marked the start of his career as a composer. While pursuing his solo career, Steven became increasingly interested in film scoring. He has since composed music for a range of projects, including "My Castle, My Home", which was nominated for various festivals around the world. The short film won "Best Indie International Film" at one of the major festivals in Serbia, Mikrofaf. In 2020, he was honored to be nominated for "Best Composer of the Year" at the CCP Festival.

More recently, he had the privilege of composing the score for the upcoming Portuguese TV series, "Roots & Fruits," which is set to be released soon. He is also dedicating his time to finishing his second solo album.
