"Richard Penniman, better known as Little Richard, who combined the sacred shouts of the black church and the profane sounds of the blues to create some of the world’s first and most influential rock ’n’ roll records, died on Saturday morning in Tullahoma, Tenn. He was 87."
"His lawyer, Bill Sobel, said the cause was bone cancer."

I for some reason had, until yesterday, thought he died sometime a while back.
RIP.

True, very entertaining and original blending of Spirituals and Blues!
Very sorry to hear about the loss of Little Richard. Didn't think that his age comes anywhere close to 87. To see his PBS performances and interviews in recent years, one would consider him very youthful--which, invariably suits Little Richard to a T--not that 87 is old or anything, but you would easily mistake him for a non-senior.
My condolences in the loss of this fine talent
