Probably because he was the writer, director, & producer for the series?

Right :-/

I should have given more context in my query. I don't even remember precisely what I was thinking when I wrote it—however I believe I miswrote.. and should have asked, "why Hugo Blick HASN'T been given a 'created by' credit?"

TMDB doesn't give Blick a "created by" credit, and IMDB doesn't list Blick as "created by," although IMDB does prominently list him as "directed by" and "written by." Further, TMDB only credits Blick as actor and producer in the FULL CAST AND CREW page for Black Earth Rising. Yet on his own Blick page he's clearly given writing and directing credits as well. So, I don't know how to make sense of that.

I believe I was trying to clean up Hugo Blick's credits, but ran into too much confusion.. The whole "created by" category trips me up and is hard to discern precisely when and under what circumstance it gets doled out. Thus the (wrong) question. lol.

Do you mean 'credit' on the main page (under the overview)? I'm not sure what's going on with this. Have you left your concerns on one of the support pages? Just hit the 'report an issue' button on the main page (scroll down & you will see it at the bottom right, under the edit page button.

Thanks for the suggestion, bratface—but not exactly. 'Credit' on the main page (under the overview) is a good clue as to major contributors for a title, and Blick of course, is not there. I can confirm that by going into edit mode and seeing that indeed there are not any "created by" filmmakers listed at all. If I was confident about Blick, I could just go in and add the credit myself. Done. But I'm not confident—which is why asked the dumb question (asked wrongly).

But more concerning and more confusing......

.......oh, wow. I see you made some changes and updates. Ok, different questions and concerns now.

Ok— 1) I see you added "Creator" on the "Crew" page. If you're confident, and want it to show up on the Main Overview page (and populate to third party apps), you will want to add creator on the "Primary Facts" edit page. Scroll down a little, and there is a dedicated "Created By" section. I don't know why TMDB has this redundancy but the Primary Facts page seems more relevant to this particular credit.

2) However—I'm still not sure Blick is entitled to this credit. Generally it seems like IMDB is pretty definitive about when it's applied. Is it a contractual and/or union thing? I don't know. But no where else (that I can find) is Blick specifically listed as the creator.

3) Not important anymore, but I wonder if I was looking at Black Earth Rising page while you were in mid-edit. Cuz that whole thing confused me.. but Blick now correlates in all the right spots with the same entry on HIS page and TITLE's page. So, check.

Bottom line: if you're confident about the credit, add Blick to PRIMARY FACTS page, "created by" section. And remove that redundancy from the CREW page. Everything else looks great now.

Cheers.

Not sure when it happened but everything but 'spoken languages' is locked.

hunh.. interesting. thanks for the fyi.

if you want to pursue it, i guess you could open a discussion/report a problem at Black Earth Rising (this thread is located at Hugo Blick's discussion page and doesn't show up under BER).
