Not a fan but they were a bit more successful than that.
Spice was the best selling album of 1997 in the US. They were big everywhere although they didn't really have a big range in demographic. By the end of 1997 when Spice came out, there certainly was a Spice fatigue and by mid 98 majority of people that I knew that had showed some interest in The Spice Girls were over them. They were a definition of a fad

They were massive actually. They had three consecutive Top 5s on the Hot 100 and their second album still sold well enough but it ended afterwards.
