Discuss Beyoncé

Her album explodes with 60M first-day streams, her debut single went #1 and her latest single is expected to go #1 on the Hot 100 next week. That's a Just Dance-Poker Face situation right there. There hasn't been an artist that exploded like that since Lady Gaga debuted with The Fame back in 2008-09. Not even Billie Eilish had this clean transition from an unknown to literally the biggest pop artist right now.

I remember ya'll talked about when we'd have another superstar-from-the-get-go a while back and it looks like she's arrived.

It's time to officially replace Billie on the list:

Britney Spears arrived in 1999, a decade later Lady Gaga and a little over a decade later Olivia Rodrigo. This seems to happen every 10 or so years.

The difference is I highly doubt Rodrigo will have even 25% of the cultural impact of a Britney or a Gaga, or even Billie for that matter. She's just not interesting enough.

It took Just Dance 9 months to get to no.1. Poker Face went to no.1 in March of 2009, it came out in September 2008. The Fame debuted at no. 17 on Billboard 200 in late 2008. By the beginning of 2009 it was at no. 83 on Billboard 200. The album didn't enter top 10 on Billboard 200 until February/march of 2009 which is what 4 months after it came out. It peaked at no.4 in March of 2009 and then re-peaked at no.2 after the re-release. The album didn't even go to no.1 and it took months for her first singles to reach the top of the charts.

She did not EXPLODE to the charts from the getgo. I sometimes wonder what you are smoking or you even care about Lady Gaga as you seem to know absolutely nothing about the singer you claim to be your fave.

You wrote the same thing 2 years ago when Billie debuted. Think of something new

Her DEBUT era as in her first era made her the biggest pop star around and her DEBUT SINGLE and FOLLOW-UP song all smashed the charts.

How about you tell me who else became THE BIGGEST artist in the world with their debut era other than Gaga, Britney and now Olivia? I'll wait, gfreak.

Already mentioned Billie in this thread, old man. Now, don't you have another double standard Taylor thread to start?

Her DEBUT era as in her first era made her the biggest pop star around and her DEBUT SINGLE and FOLLOW-UP song all smashed the charts.

It didn't smash right away which is why this comparison makes zero sense. We don't even know whether Olivia will be on the charts 3 months from now on. She's having a huge first week sales as well as her debut single topping the charts immediately after it came out which is not what happened with Gaga. Get it.

When did I say Gaga did not become the biggest artist in the world with her debut era. I said she didn't smash out of the gate like you claimed to

Anyways if I'm going to answer this question, these artist come to mind.

Avril Lavigne, Whitney Houston, Alanis Morrissette (her international debut), The Beatles, Norah Jones, 50 cent, Guns N Roses, Meatloaf, Linkin Park, Phil Collins, George Michael, Spice Girls, Susan Boyle,

Olivia's album just came out. How do you know the album will have longevity or even be on the charts months from now?

Not even Billie Eilish had this clean transition from an unknown to literally the biggest pop artist right now.

Because, Billie was already known for quite some time before her album came out. Her first single came out when she was 14. The first single from her debut album was the overall 13th single. Why bother comparing it to Billie when it took Billie years to get where she is (which is normal) You sometimes make zero sense.

Billie was a pop culture zeitgeist and quite literally took the industry by storm (massive album, massive singles, Grammy's, Oscar performance, Vogue covers, etc.). Olivia's a cute girl but this album will not have the legs Billie's debut did, and I doubt she will make half the impact Billie did either especially given Olivia herself is influenced by her. And unless she somehow outsells Billie's debut or outcharts Billie she's yet to be replaced, let alone compared to The Fame skull

You could apply the same thing to Britney then since BOMT didn't smash right out for he gate either since it didn't debut at #1. What the fvck are you even talking about. Gaga, no matter how many months it took, was the biggest superstar with her debut era. Something that Britney also experienced and now Olivia as well.

Avril did not become THE biggest star in the world with her debut era. Avril was huge but not bigger than Britney. Britney was literally the biggest female of 1999-2000 and Gaga was the biggest female of 2009-10. We're talking strictly female artists.

And Billie was the biggest female of 2019-2020. So how does Olivia factor into this?

I never said she was bigger than Britney but in 2002-2003 Avril was the biggest popstar around. Norah Jones was outselling everyone but aside from that it was Avril who was no.1 in terms of album sales. Avril had IFPI top 10 selling album in both 2002 and 2003.
