I disagree, Charli XCX, Oaf1, Shygirl and everyone in the hyperpop/glitchcore scene are absolutely KILLING it right now with quality, consistent releases.
The whole “pop star” thing has been dead since 2014, there’s definitely more interesting music being made.
If High King is right, then my comment can be disregarded . . . but I am inclined to lean more towards Gfe . . . it seems not as much music is being released right now. And I am fine with that, if it is because artists are waiting until they can get back into the studio, once this pandemic passes, and record professional-sounding music once again.
What I don't want to see happen, is for everyone to switch to "home-studio" recording, where we could end up with a lot of tinny-sounding, unfinished, not fully fleshed-out, amateurish-sounding rough cuts.
I'm willing to wait for quality (the same goes for films, while we're at it).

Taylor Swift gave us two albums during the pandemic in which she recorded during lockdown. That's not the problem. I think there is a certain fatigue at stakes right now.

Is Blackpink breaking up? How come Rosé released solo songs?
