Andy Cohen is annoying and Anderson Cooper is lame. Retire these two.
I think it's interesting that alcoholic Mariah still holds a grudge against JLo almost 20 years later for something that was 100% Tommy's doing.
Oh please, how much respect does Jello have in the industry, little. Because of her petty and sneaky ways. J-Lo has the media on her side but that's about it, they hyped her super bowl performance, yet the public favored Shakira, they hyped her Hustlers performance, the Academy didn't care.
But I'm not referring to the rest of the industry. This is about Mariah's grudge over what Tommy did. I thought the whole "I don't know her" thing was funny too....for awhile.
It is extremely funny. She was asked about J-LO? What was she supposed to say? She's still at it, because people love to her it.
I think some of you really don't understand the nuanced complexities, and stigma of stealing material from black people. It's a deep hurt that goes back over a century.
J.Lo is a talented entertainer. But she's a crap singer, and her brand has stolen from multiple artists. Particularly BLACK artists. Mariah has every right to still be mad as hell. Even though she's clearly over it, and playing it up for the media.
The way I see it. If we can call out Camila Cabello's racist behaviour, then we can call out J.Lo for passing off the work and vocals of black artists as her own. Maybe we can also talk about Ariana's blackfishing, and the shocking amount of fan attempts to belittle a woman of colour (Mariah) in favour of a WHITE woman.
It's not even just about the sample, it's a whole bigger conversation than that. If Mariah still has a prejudice against J.Lo, I really doubt it simply has to do with the sample alone. Mariah has always had a big influence in the R&B/hip-hop scene, and is renowned for how seriously she takes the artistic/singing side of things. I seriously doubt she would ever be fond of an artist that couldn't sing, and banked over material stolen from POC.
