You know what's impossible to get - before the vultures immediately swoop them all up - where I am?: Cartons of eggs! I've been trying (four different stores just today alone), since Friday of a week ago, to even lay eyes on a carton of eggs, and so far they're even rarer than nearly-extinct toilet paper!

Someone (a shopper) said on the local t.v. news a couple nights ago that they were in a grocery store and watched some @$$hole grab up 15 (!!!) 18-count cartons of eggs and put them in their cart - leaving zilch for anyone else to be able to buy!

Well, where I live liquor is sold in grocery stores., so no problem there.

Where I live liquor is sold in grocery stores too (and also drug stores) yay!

It has just starting hailing, it's 50 degrees out! Really weird.

Wow hushed

So here in Seattle we are expecting a press conference in the next hour from the governor, more than likely a lockdown will be put into place

I found eggs at a Safeway (not the one I usually go to, which didn't have any last Tuesday), one small box of kleenex (I have allergies, so need it), but no TP, they were even cleaned out of all baby wipes. The one I usually go to was almost out of the strangest things (cooking oil, etc.) last week. And I still say who needs 100 rolls of TP?

More than we already have? I live just south of you. The self-isolating isn't a big deal to me, I'm a bit of a hermit anyway. I personally wouldn't ever leave the house but I do have to go out to get food, etc. occasionally. I don't really like (& can't afford) delivery services, so I do not have a choice. If I had a car it would be a lot easier.

Yes, more than we already have. Currently, things are closed but we have not been on a mandated lockdown. I’m talking curfews and everything. If caught out after curfew, you will have a misdemeanor. Not sure specifically where you live, but Seattle currently doesn’t have that. I think Edmonds does though.

Tacoma. But I guess we will have to wait & see how strict it will be. People still need to get groceries/necessities so it can't be a total lockdown.

Did you see the announcement?

I didn't watch but read the recap of it. I figured it couldn't be a total lockdown. But it's reasonable.

Did you guys stay awake during the announcement? Trump couldn’t have sounded more uneducated, and dead behind the eyes.

Boris was at the very least alert, and forceful.

God help the Americans who should’ve been taking that seriously, instead of falling asleep. I can’t cope with how embarrassing that was for the US. He’s not even a convincing corrupt politician.

Where I am- last night , governor lock-down issued, no one out after midnight unless job or medically related .

I'm in a state that's on lock-down. It's eerily quiet in my neighbourhood this morning. My house is a corner property in a quiet residential neighbourhood, but that normally gets ongoing off-and-on through traffic. Usually - prior to this week - dozens of vehicles drive past daily on weekdays. Today I've heard or seen close to no passersby. For the most part, the extent of things has been an occasional vehicle for whatever type company that's one of the essential type businesses. So far haven't even seen any people in their yards.

I a number of times have gone to a combination of different local stores during the last week and a half, to find various needed/wanted foods and supplies, and in the right quantity to cover me for (regarding most things) roughly a month, and gradually was able to find everything sought - with the sole exception of eggs. MANY things (that I eventually did manage to find and get) are VERY elusive, and you pretty much have to be in the right place at the right time, or else they quickly get swooped up.

Fresh meat (beef, pork, poultry, seafood), pre-packaged lunchmeats, cheeses, butter, margerine, various type canned goods (of any type foods), toilet paper, paper towels, and kleenex (any brand, including store brand), cleaning supplies, bleach, soap, laundry detergent, cooking oil, etc., etc., tend to be hard (or near impossible) to find. Stores still do get deliveries of the various things, but people quickly buy the stuff up as soon as it's put out.

The thing for me is, I do not have a car so have to take public transit (which is free at the moment, but still...?). I don't want to just hop on a bus & have to travel all around just to find toilet paper. The store I usually shop at has limits on how many you can purchase (depending on the item) but what am I suppose to do just hang around the store all day waiting for a delivery? I have food, etc. but need toilet paper. I even checked Amazon but even there it's a hit or miss thing, prices way too high, quality suspect, etc. Why do people have to be so selfish?

It's definitely an added layer of difficulty and inconvenience for anyone without a vehicle, who has to either use public transportation or have others take them places.

I live in a town, that's in an overall semi-rural/rural county. Nearly all adults have their own vehicle, as public transportation or taxi service is minimal to non-existent around here.

When I did my shopping, I bought solely realistic amount of things to cover for roughly a month, but witnessed many people clearly hording stuff in obnoxiously large quantities that they'll probably still have, unused, 6-12 or more months - or a couple years - from now!

I know I'm not the 'norm', a 12 pack of TP can last for a month or so for me. I usually buy when it's on sale so I did have a backup package, if not for that I would have been as they say 'sol'! But I finally snagged 3 large rolls from the landlord about an hour ago but that won't last forever.

Why is it when at the times people should be banding together to help each other they are usually at their most horrid/selfish? If I could get electricity, internet, running water, etc. I would go live in a cave!
