Which artists/bands were big in the 2000s but failed to keep up in the 2010s?
Some artists that come to mind are 50 Cent, Nelly, Mariah Carey, Nelly Furtado & Ciara.

Green Day's last album went to no.1 both in the UK and US and considering they had a diamond album in the 90s I wouldn't really consider them a 2000s artist..

Green Day and Mariah are 90's artists, not 2000's artists.

Avril found success with her 4th studio album in 2011. It sold pretty good and she scored a hit with What the hell.

What the Hell wasn't a hit, really. At least not in the US. Avril hasn't had a hit era since the 2000s. Her last was The Best Damn Thing.

Yes it was it’s her last single if i remember correctly to chart in the top 20 on billboard. Compared to how some of her peers were bombing. She definitely showed that year she had a loyal fan base up to that point up. I’m not saying it smash or some iconic era but people were expecting her to straight bomb after that 6 year break yet she didn’t. Thank god for Japan.
That’s all I’m saying...

Exactly, plus Mariah’s personality has very much survived the 2010s so it’s not like she’s completely disappeared.

If we're looking at acts that broke through in the 2000s and then failed to have success in the 2010s then I'd say Fergie, Gwen Stefani (solo, she's a 90s act with No Doubt), 50 Cent, Evanescence, Avril Lavigne, Ciara, Ashanti, Ja Rule, Timbaland, Nelly, Limp Bizkit, for example.

The question was who was big in the 2000s and not in the 2010s. I don’t think OP was specifically talking about debut artists from the 2000s. They haven’t had a platinum album in a decade or a hit era since American Idiot.

Man, Ashanti, I remember when she hit the scene. People were already sick of her by mid 2002 (a few months after her album came out) The fact they managed to make her last 2-3 years more is an ahievement in itself. Hey at least she still has the record for most copies sold in the first week for a debut album by a female. Too bad, that number is abut 7 % of her total album sales to date.
But I blame her label for the most part I mean how many songs did she do with Ja-Rule. I'm Real, Ain't it funny, Always on time and few others.

Katy Perry? Yea she’s flopping now but she still slayed the first half of the 2010s. This is why you get Gaga stans attacked.
