Lady Gaga is the obvious choice. She just did the Super Bowl, everyone loves her, she has a big country album, and she has never headlined at the festival. We love the idea of Gaga transitioning through her career and its distinct phases before ending on a plaintive ballad like "Million Reasons." This would be a safe choice but also one of the only ones that could hope to stand up to Beyoncé in terms of theatricality.

Like Beyonce, Gaga made the Super Bowl a spectacle and she has a new album, "Joanne." Her tour is selling out like bananas. And since her own tour doesn't start until August, she's a viable option.

That's great if it's true. Joanne is not a country album though, only a couple songs could vaguely be called country.

I don't think this is going to happen. She's filming a movie, she can't plan out a big festival performance like this...

Second, neither does Swift or any other of her peers except MAYBE Adele.

Let's face it, Beyonce is the ONLY current pop artist with "cool factor."

Well they got Lana in 2014, vocals clearly don't matter much to them(no shade, i love Lana, but mostly her live vocals aren't the best).

Lana wasn't the main Headliner though. Beyonce was. Whoever is taking Beyonces spot will be a Headliner at Coachella. So they are most definitely trying to find someone big who puts on a show.
