I was just about to go there and check it one last time and those SOBs fucking killed it. I thought it'd at least be until the clock strikes zero, but whatever

Same here. I know we've known for weeks they were closing it, but it still feels bizarre for it to actually be gone. Ah well.

I still don't get it. I mean, there have been articles written about the poor decision to close them down. I know there were a lot of trolls and the racism, homophobia and misogyny was horrible but it was mostly in the more popular threads like The Walking Dead, etc. I love watching old films and then visiting the boards to find out trivia or if people think/feel the same way about a certain scene.

Exactly what I'll miss. I've been doing that for years, so to suddenly go there out of habit and not be able to discuss the movie is heartbreaking

No money is made by people chatting. On top of it, word of mouth can pretty much ruin a show or movie. They didn't see any benefit in it for them. They couldn't give less of a crap how we felt about the whole thing.
I don't agree. There are many times when I would hear about a movie, or see one in the similar section that looked interesting and I would then find it on Amazon and pay to watch it. The boards brought traffic to the site, which means more people to see the ads and click the links that earned them money. Those boards were pure gold... that cost them little if anything to run.

I'll still rate my movies on IMDb, but I'll miss going there and checking people's opinions and the discussions

@mrjacs
Why bother rating movies over there? You can do that here just the same.

From what people have said, it looks like it was shut down at midnight GMT, basically 0:00 on 2/20/2017 in England.
