Biography |
He was born in Lima (Peru) on May 21, 1952. He obtained Spanish Nationality in May 1982. Edgar Saba completed his school studies at the Jesuit school in Peru. In 1969 he entered the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru where he studied Humanities, specializing in Linguistics and Literature, Performing Arts and Law. In 1976 he received a scholarship from the British Council of England - for four years - at the renowned Drama Center London where he graduated as a Stage Director and Playwright. In his last year, he wrote the film script “Land of Foxes” produced by the Center National de Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) of France, moving to Paris. In London he met Elishabeth de Muinck, known as Els Vandel, a Dutch actress, with whom he later married and they would have their only two children: Adrián Saba, filmmaker, screenwriter and director; and Nuria Saba, composer and singer-songwriter. He stood out as founder and director of the Lima International Film Festival for twenty years. |

Nace en Lima (Perú) el 21 de Mayo de 1952. Obtiene la Nacionalidad Española en Mayo de 1982. Edgar Saba realiza sus estudios escolares en el colegio Jesuita del Perú. En 1969 ingresa a la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú donde estudia Humanidades especializándose en Lingüística y Literatura, Artes Escénicas y Derecho. En 1976 es becado por el British Council de Inglaterra –durante cuatro años- en el reconocido Drama Centre London donde se licencia como Director de Escena y Dramaturgo. En su último año, escribe el guión de cine “Land of Foxes” producido por el Centre National de Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) de Francia, trasladándose a París. En Londres conoce a Elishabeth de Muinck, conocida como Els Vandel, actriz holandesa, con quien más adelante contrae matrimonio y tendrán sus dos únicos hijos: Adrián Saba, cineasta, guionista y director; y a Nuria Saba, compositora y cantautora. Se destacó como fundador y director del Festival Internacional de Cine de Lima durante veinte años. |
