He had a creep side (Unlawful Entry perfectly captured it), but he was great in Cop Land.
67 is too young. He was busy working, too, and it'd have been fun seeing what all he had going on.

He did always look like he didn't have the healthiest life style, but I suppose ultimately it isn't important how he died, but how he lived and he did make some quality entertainment over the years. On the topic I would like to say that while maybe slightly lesser known than some of his other work I think "Escape from Absolom/No Escape" is really underrated.
