As already indicated, collections are only for true movie sequels. This is not the case here.

how about we brew up a nice exception for theatrically released content that now exists as a series/collection on streaming and for ease of use for plex(and other) users? we can label it as a movie/theatrical release AND perhaps give it a second label as a series. Sure you'd call it ugly, but what's uglier than having a show appear in your library without ratings because TMDB refuses to format certain old short collections in a way that makes sense for users and viewers. there are likely fewer than 10 examples, and yet they are incredibly important series: Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, the three stooges, the disney animated shorts, Betty Boop, Casper The Friendly Ghost, and The Pixar Shorts. All are technically closer to series/shows than they are to movies, and yet each one is listed as a singular movie, breaking sorting/rating for media servers like plex, and defeating the purpose of even having a listing on this site (if nobody ever sees the ratings anywhere that the show/series/collection actually is)
look at the alternative; To have to sort each individual episode of these shows as individual movies, massively cluttering any movie browsing with hundreds of episodes of casper or disney shorts that are simply not the same as feature length films. Wallace and Gromit makes an alright movie collection, thanks to the low number of films and its status having been individually released as home video, but even then there is a series page in my media library missing a rating because the TVDB series for wallace and gromit isn't reflected here. (I did break down and just sort them fully into movies, but wouldn't it be nice not to have to make concessions for pointlessly OCD database entries?)
The entire website won't unravel if you listen to users and implement reasonable changes from time to time.

You will have to wait for the development of the universes feature. No date available yet.

cool enough, tho it feels like it shouldn't take such a massive change to fix these formatting-level issues. like primarily sorting these shows (they have episodes and seasons) as shows and not movies. Leave the movie listings secondary or vestigial until this magical new update, and let users have their properly rated programming in the meantime???

In any cases, they should absolutely not be listed as shows. They were originally released as short theater movies, not as a TV show.

Theres that OCD again, flying in the face of ease of use for the end user. It's not like we erase history by having a ratings website accurately add ratings to what is now available the same as any other tv show. We can do both.

No, we can't do duplicates.

and yet duplicates exist in the wild. why not let some exist for good purposes instead of only due to oversight? again the list here isn't miles long, stuff is already lost in the woodwork and it just wouldn't be catastrophic to reflect the proper state of things with as many as 6 new/wrong entries...
edit: and while slamming your fist into the table, maybe this very 1940's superman 'series' could use a look, given the main article you'll find is an inferior duplicate with the year in the title, hiding this, the real entry (as a movie, despite being theatrical shorts) which contains all the info for the max Fleischer superman collection from the 1940's

By the way, this entry is not for multiple Superman shorts, but only for the absolute first one which was originally title as just "Superman".

actually the entire release was originally titled Superman, but this first short was Superman - The Mad Scientist

The first short was originally titled only "Superman". It has only been renamed later into "The Mad Scientist".

k, still doesn't really help with the duplicate inferior entry, if anything this entry should be expanded into the full entry for a superman series, but I already know your response to that lol
