What defines a "great movie"?

One that inspires repeated viewings? And, with each, new discoveries are made? One that inspires endless and passionate arguments/discussions?
I think, despite its flaws, "Prometheus" qualifies.

I don't think it has to necessarily inspire numerous viewings. Some people don't go in for that (although I do).
Why do you think Prometheus is a great film?

By that argument, Showgirls is a great movie. :)
I wouldn't call Prometheus a great film, but I enjoyed it, and I have a DVD of it. I'd put it on par with Europa Report or 2010.
