In regards to the scene where he's trying to get rid of Claudia but Louis protects her and sets Lestat on fire, how was he able to still live?
Those burns would be enough to kill him or any vampire just like when all the other vampires died when Louis got his revenge. Not only that but towards the end, when he bites the reporter.....he suddenly heals, as if nothing had happened.

Well in the books (possible spoiler alert), he survives because he has drank blood from vampires much older than him, making him stronger. He says in The Vampire Lestat: "it was the blood of the old ones, Magnus and Marius and Akasha that sustained me as I crawled away from the flames".
