The Long Walk: Francis Lawrence is “super happy” with his Stephen King adaptation.
This movie finally being made feels almost like seeing the Toronto Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup — something for which I've been waiting a lifetime yet feared I'd never see.
If I can see it on its opening night, I will; at the very least, opening weekend.
Can.
Not.

It just occurred to me that although the plot of a deadly competition seems familiar (Alice in Borderland, Death Race, Hunger Games, and the film that started the genre Battle Royale), Stephen King's book A Long Walk predates them all by a good 20 years!
Battle Royale is often credited as the original, and in terms of films I suppose it is, but BR was based on a 1999 book while ALW was published in 1979 😮 way waaay ahead of the game. The story sure took its time getting to the screen, though.
I'm pretty charged up for this one too!
