I'm about to watch it again (3rd time). I freakin love the opening scene. No words, no action, no colors, no camera movement (except a very subtle hitchcock dolly/zoom trick midway), but it sets the tone and tells a story like none other.

I just watched Melville's following film le Cercle Rouge and loved it. Melville/Delon were the epitome of French cool.

Yes, very cool. I haven't seen it in years but the last time I saw it I gave it a 7/10. I should give it a rewatch (it's available on Kanopy) when I can find the time. I have so many things to watch & even though I'm retired I can't seem to find the time to watch everything. 🤔
