This movie felt like sitting through a 3.5 hour funeral… for humanity 😭 Martin Scorsese literally said “hey let’s make a film that emotionally wrecks everyone and makes you question American history, love, loyalty, and white people.” And he did THAT.
Lily Gladstone is the HEARTBEAT of this film. Her performance?? Silent rage. Quiet pain. That woman acted with her SOUL. Super dissatisfied that she didn’t got her Oscar..
Leonardo DiCaprio played the most confused, pathetic little man I’ve ever seen. Every time he opened his mouth I wanted to throw him in the oil fields and leave him there. But also.. He DID his job. And Robert De Niro?? Pure villain. That man oozes manipulation.
This wasn’t your typical crime movie — it’s slow, heavy, full of grief, and somehow even more devastating because it’s real. The pacing was like a slow bleed… but that was the point.
The last 10 minutes?? OH. MY. GOD. That ending slapped me across the face. Scorsese literally pulled up and broke the 4th wall like, “yeah I know I just traumatized you. I did it on purpose.”
