Maybe you missed it, maybe you didn’t—the movie’s slow pace felt like an evocation of a bygone time when these people & their culture thrived. Scorsese pulled off a similar stunt when he put together KUNDUN, about people in Tibet and the Dalai Lana. That is, at least, that’s how I took them.

I wouldn't exactly call their culture "thriving" being pinned down on a reservation and having ask permission to use their own money. Pretty sure if you asked any first nation leaders when their culture thrived they would say many hundreds of years ago before the encroachment of European settlers got out of hand.

What a petty uninformed reply.

I agree if they had cut it down it would have been a better, tighter film. But I didn't find it dragged either, I wasn't bored at all.

This film didn't flow his like his other films. The Irishman clocks in at over 3 hours and it felt like a 2 hour flick. This film felt like three hours and I think it was due to the lack of action his other films had. The poisoning of his wife was just painfully dragged and perhaps om purpose to accentuate the slow deterioration but from an entertainment perspective, it was too much to bear for me.
