I ask this question based on reading an interview with the Director where he states "What I presented of BalikBayan #1 in Berlinale in 2015 is still pretty much the same story as the new version. This new one is “redux” again—I have Redux IV, V, and VI now, allowing me to include new footage to embellish things. However, the basic story remains the same. Okay, let's recap. Kidlat Tahimik began working on the film in 1979 but, for various reasons, the project was shelved a few years later.
The first version "Memories of Overdevelopment" is a 33 minutes showreel: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/386141-memories-of-overdevelopment In 2011, this version was screened in South Korea during the Jeonju International Film Festival. In 2012, it was screened screened in the US as part of a retrospective tour. The filmmaker announced his intention to resume filming soon after he got back from the tour. It was also screened in Germany as part of a 2016 retrospective, for example.
In October 2013, "Memories of Overdevelopment Redux" premiered at the Singapore Biennale. I did not find the runtime, but I'm assuming it had at least some new footage.
The next version seems to be the 146 minutes "Redux III": https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/332125-balikbayan-1-memories-of-overdevelopment-redux-iii That one premiered at the Berlinale in 2015. I found multiple international screenings, but I'm confused about why he Tokyo International Film Festival screened the film under the title "BalikBayan#1 Memories of Overdevelopment Redux III.5." Also, I believe this Redux III version had a limited release in Germany in 2016.
The 160 minutes "Redux VI" version probably began screening in 2017 https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/461290-balikbayan-1-memories-of-overdevelopment-redux-vi In 2019, it had a theatrical release in Japan.
I do think they are alternative versions of an ever-evolving project and should therefore share the same entry. But I'm going to wait for a second opinion to be safe.
