The filmmakers were seemingly given fairly wide access to film and there is some quite attractive footage offered as a result, but do not expect to learn anything here about North Korea: with repeated characterizations of streets void of traffic as “peaceful” and observations like (at the circus) “the perfect show took our breath away”, the narration, minimal as it is, tends towards the saccharine and trite.
