...aren't they going to have to find a new excuse other than the tired "If we didn't use white actors, the movie wouldn't be a box office hit" excuse? This movie looks poised to be a bomb (opened at #3 with less than $20 million on a $110 million budget). Another "whitewashed" movie that immediately comes to mind is God of Egypt, which only made $31 million domestic on a $140 million budget. Meanwhile some of the biggest non-superhero hits over the last few years have been minority-led movies (e.g. Get Out, Straight Outta Compton, Hidden Figures, the Fast and Furious movies).
