It was surprisingly boring to me, honestly. Beautiful to look at, but given that I've seen the anime and all the movies that the source material inspired, it was just kind of meh. The other movies that are "like it" did it better.
I really liked it. I'm not a big fan of manga books, and I never saw the classic 1995 anime, but I was familiar with the series, Ghost In The Shell-Stand Alone Complex. Scarlett Johansson was great, and when it gets to the part where Major finds our how she REALLY became a Ghost, I started crying my eyes out! And of course you can't go wrong when Beat Takashi is in the movie!
Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night.
