I watched Chris Stuckmann's review last night and he gave this film an -A, Then today I watched Dan Murrell of screen junkies and he stated that this film is not that good, so I am guessing that reviews are mixed on this. I guess what it boils down to is if you are into Japanese Anime and I think that was Dan's point, that it is a throwback to the Anime film it came from, which plays on nostalgia and if the audience is not that familiar with the source material, then it maybe lost on them or may not get it. I think that Chris lets his fandom get the best of him and I think it might cloud his judgment, whereas Dan looked at it as a film disregarding the source material and praised it for its visuals, however stated that the story is lacking.. I have not seen it, so it is hard to judge at this point, however if you go by the reviews, it is mixed as to the quality of the films, granted I only watched two reviews, however those reviews are on the opposite ends of the spectrum.

It looks like garbage. I'd rather watch a sequel to Johnny Mnemonic.

Reviews are just personal opinions. I'm a fan of the original anime and the first two seasons of the series. So I know what they are attempting to go for. I will be seeing it this weekend with the wife, who has no clue what its about so I will be able to get her reaction from it as well. The criticism that gets to me is the whole casting a white woman thing. Its an American studio production, of course they are going to cast a famous American actress in the lead. Scarlett Johansson was the second highest paid actress last year, only second to Jennifer Lawrence. I will be basing my review/opinion on the film itself. From what I have seen in the reviews, it is a watered down version of the original. Which of course dosent surprise me at all. It would be way to smart for your average moviegoer to understand if they stuck with the full original material. People would walk out. I like Chris Stuckmann and his reviews so at least that gives me some hope. I also like watching Grace from Beyond the Trailer, but she comes off as a SJW/feminist, so I dont always agree with her reviews/views.
Im sure about two things when it comes ot this film. One, its going to be fucking visually stunning and gorgeous. And two, if they hired an Asian actress for the lead role it wouldnt change the story one bit.
