How could Marty see Clint Eastwood on the gravestone?

If Marty died in the west, how would he be able to arrive in the future where he's married and has kids?

Marty goes by the name 'Clint Eastwood' in the Old West. He went to the future BEFORE he went to the Old West. He sees that name on the tomb stone because it's predicted that he would die because he was going to go up against Mad Dog Tannen. However though, he didn't because he found the makeshift bullet proof vest to wear during his fight with Mad Dog.
