Discuter de LUPIN THE IIIRD Zenigata to 2-nin no Lupin

Item: LUPIN THE IIIRD 銭形と2人のルパン

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Hello, I noticed that the English title for this entry is written using the Rōmaji title "LUPIN THE IIIRD Zenigata to 2-nin no Lupin" instead of the English title "Lupin the Third: Zenigata and the Two Lupins". I think it's a minor issue, but by fixing it, it would follow the same title as the other series entry by Koike. Is there a way to fix it? Thanks in advance!

Can you provide a source showing "Lupin the Third: Zenigata and the Two Lupins" is the official English translated title?

Entries with non-Roman original titles can temporarily use a romanized en-US title until an official translated title is announced. If there is no official English title, the following applies:

  • An English title used by a festival in a non-English speaking country.
  • An English title used by a film festival in an English speaking country, but not used by the press in any English speaking country when writing about the movie.
  • An English title only used on the website of the producer or distributor or in press releases.
  • An English title only used by the press.

Thanks for clarifying! I tried to search on some official site now, but I didn't actually find an official translation. So yeah, the non-Roman title is alright!

raze464, please update the title to "LUPIN THE IIIRD Zenigata and the Two Lupins" used by the media:

Or you saying you want to use an English title used by the press because this movie will not have an official English release?

There is no indication there will be an official English release. GKIDS has licensed some of the films in previous years, and others have gone unlicensed/unreleased. If there is one, there's no data/indication that it will be anytime soon. The Japanese production studios produce the movies in Japanese and thus do not have a concept of "official English title"; that only comes about if a licensing company works with them to release it outside of Japan. As a result, I think it's appropriate for the English title as used by the press to also be reflected here. Thanks!

That's exactly why there are rules for this. A transliterated title is used as a temporary English title until an official English title is announced. If there is no official English title, the following applies:

  • An English title used by a festival in a non-English speaking country.
  • An English title used by a film festival in an English speaking country, but not used by the press in any English speaking country when writing about the movie.

If you want an English title used by the press, then which title? There are at, a minimum, four "English" titled used by the press:

ANN and Orion seem like the two most reputable of those to me. (My interpretation of the CR news blurb is that they're giving a transliteration and then an un-official translation in the parenthetical.) Feel free to choose either!
