wasnt quite him alone like the movie portrays but I think he was the first guy to get to the qb and get his legs to take him down. another lineman did assist though. so maybe give Rudy half a sack

but he really did sack that QB from Georgia Tech at the end. that part is true. Can see footage on You Tube
However, Ive read about the real Rudy alot the last few years. Guy is a total shady scumbag

Too many facts to call it fiction. In any case, it's probably closer to the truth than what The Sound Of Music did for the Von Trapps.
Fact: Dan Ruettiger did manage to get transferred to Notre Dame despite being dyslexic.
Fact: Rudy did manage to walk on the Notre Dame football team despite being 5'6" - 165lbs and having little athletic skill.
Fact: Rudy got to play in a real ND game play where he was credited with a (meaningless) sack.
Fact: Joe Montana is handsome, talented, had a hall of fame career and a life after the NFL, yet still manages to come off as a douche.
Embellished is certainly accurate, calling it fiction is certainly not.
