The fact that a movie is a TV movie or not has nothing to do with its inclusion or not in the collection.

Is it a sequel of the previous one or not ? On IMDB, it is listed as a sequel.

Please add "My Summer Story (1994)" to the collection as it's a direct sequel to the original (with Bob Clark returning as director). References are made to events from the first movie.

This got a bit complicated. Looking at this now, it seems to me that the collection should be renamed "The Ralph Parker collection" and only include A Christmas Story and It Runs in the Family (aka My Summer Story) from 1994. And with the 1994 movie added as a sequel, the rules won't allow another sequel to the first movie. Same for the later added A Christmas Story Christmas. Let me know what you think @superboy97.

The situation is more complicated that that.

"Parker Family Saga" already exist here with "It Runs in the Family" in it.

Based on IMDB, the sequence is supposed to be "A Christmas Story Collection" -> "Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss" -> "It Runs in the Family" -> "A Christmas Story Collection 2" followed by "A Christmas Story Christmas" from 2022.

IMDB doesn't mention the other movies that are currently part of the "Parker Family Saga" collection : "The Phantom of the Open Hearth", "The Great American Fourth of July and Other Disasters" and "The Star-Crossed Romance of Josephine Cosnowski (a Tale of Gothic Love)".

I can't say anything more as I don't know all this movies. My message above in May 2023 was a question which was never answered.

I'll have to investigate this in more detail. The Parker Family Saga collection is quite recent so not convinced those are true sequels, but we'll see... I'll post again here when done.

That was quick. The Parker Family Saga collection is incorrect since the movies aren't true sequels, but only focuses on a character in the same universe. I have deleted it now.

Now we can return to this topic again. It Runs in the Family has the same director as a Christmas Story and several outlets mention that it is a sequel. Is that enough to make the proposed changes? I totally disregard any sort of sequel information on IMDb in this case.

I get what you're saying, but I'm also struggling to wrap my head around this. What evidence do we have that it's only a sequel to not first movie, not both? Are the events of Family/My Summer Story disregarded/rewritten for A Christmas Story Christmas or simply not mentioned? I would personally be in favour of swapping A Christmas Story 2 for It Runs in the Family/My Summer Story, and keeping it as a trilogy for now due to the lack of info/clarity.
