Item: Raumschiff Enterprise - Die nste Generation
Language: de
Type of Problem: Incorrect_content
Extra Details: I can not agree this splitted up collection between TOS movies and TNG movies. The Star Trek Movies I - X are one historical line and the Connection between the tv Shows tos and tng. It would be better to let the movies I - X together in one collection and start a second collection with the 'new' star trek universe from J.J. Abrams with Star Trek XI and above. Everyone who Needs to split up tos / tng may use the list function, please.
For example Star Trek VII: Generations... this one contains Captain Kirk and Captain Picard. It's partially TOS and partially TNG. Star Trek X: Nemesis contains the Souvereign Class Command Ship as Enterprise-E and not the Galaxy Class Enterprise-D ... should this be split up too, because there's a newer vessel?

Hi,
Although I am not the person who split these into two collections, I can try to answer this because it seems like there's a good reason why they are split.
As you have alluded, both the TOS and TNG films share the same common universe, have crossover elements, and continuity; but they are in fact a distinct film series from one another. Remember, TNG is a spin-off TV series from TOS, and these films continue that tradition into the film series with the same cast. I think an analogy would be The Lord of the Rings trilogy film series and The Hobbit trilogy film series - same universe, many of the same characters, perfect continuity, but two sets of distinct film series.
Most importantly, there's a lot of sources from creators of the film calling Generations a spin-off film series that use the past characters to bridge the past and present in Generations. That is, they are acknowledging it is a different film series [within the same universe].
I think another clue that TNG is a distinct film series (not that it needs once since the creators acknowledge it) is the sequel numbering in the official titles stopped at Generations.
I suppose it could also be possible the film is both a kind of sequel and the beginning of a new film series. Although it's not mentioned in the guidelines, TMDB has a history of often using the film series criteria when the sequel criteria is nebulous on a case-by-case basis.
I hope that helped to clarify why there are two collections. You may not agree with this reasoning, but I suspect that was more-or-less the reasoning used.

Oh, the reasoning sounds very good. Thank you for your time writing an answer to this 'problem'.
But everytime if i try to think about the current solution, even with your declaration, i comte to the conslusion, that it would be better to have one collection and split indeed both generations in listings.
Of course i may be wrong and just don't know this type of Splitting (growing up with Star Trek I - X = movie-series).
Mhm, mhm... ah nevermind. It's not this big deal and perhaps, if i try to open my mind, i could live with this. Your answer was very, very good. ^
Thank you!
