I'm a autodidact cinephile and teacher with a longstanding predilection for Japanese cinema (especially the oeuvre of Yasujiro Ozu), the German New Wave (particularly Wim Wenders' 70s road films and his masterpiece 'Im Lauf Der Zeit'), documentaries (everything from classic Wiseman-style verite to the hybrid offerings of Errol Morris), experimental cinema (with much affection for the works of Luis Bunuel, Man Ray, Joris Ivens, Hans Richter, Maya Deren, Stan Brakhage, Jonas Mekas, Chris Marker and Michael Snow), hand-drawn cel animation (nothing in animation history surpasses the quality, humor and self-reflexive genius of classic Warner Brothers shorts), and an eclectic array of horror. I'm also a "member" of the unofficial Oswego Cinephile Society, an addict for drive-in movie theaters and ozoners, a frequent reader of both popular and high-brow cinema theory (with an avowed weakness for Lacanian film criticism), a teacher of film and a passionate movie collector.
