That last statement really hits the mark!

In one sixth season Mash episode they had Hawkeye mention an Abbott and Costello film that was fictional but it sounded like a real movie of theirs. Nobody ever called him out on it or anything. Mind you this is when the show was serious. That was one of the exact troubles with this show. It was not trustworthy in the alleged info it presented. It's politics and favoring of the terrible North Korean regime was certainly untrustworthy of the writers.
